Still without Oblivion, but I'll download and help seed for a while.

I crossposted the existence of POOP at GT and Qt3. Since the post includes the final mod list, I thought I'd share it here, too:

Guys, I'd like to introduce the Popehat Oblivion Omods Project, or POOP.

I drew inspiration from the GoneGold/OO Morrowind DVD mods project as well as Lum's Oblivion Mods Omnibus from a few years ago and Jason McCullough's never quite released here but similar package.

First off, it's all done. Every mod is packed as an OMOD, and everything you need is in the POOP already--OBMM, OBSE, Wrye Bash, the official and unofficial patches for the DLC and Shivering Isles content.

Here's what's in the rest of the POOP:

World Graphics:
1. Qarl's Texture Pack 3, Redimized and Further Reduced as an OMOD. (Scripted to allow you to pick the sweet spot between graphics and performance)
2. Three flavors of "Color Maps" and three flavors of "Normal Maps" with instructions on what they do to LOD and distant landscape views, how they affect performance, and how to pick out what works best (Qarl's Normal Maps and Qarl's Better Tiling)
3. Three flavors of "Noise" filtering (Koldorn's) to work with the "pepper" caused by patch 1.2
4. Two choices of View When Distant: AEVWD (Almost Everything View When Distant) and a smaller version for slower GPUs: Tamriel VWD + Chapels Extras
5. Natural Environments for habitats and vegetation
6. Atmospheric Weather System for skies and weather
7. Beaming Sunglare for better sun
8. Enhanced Water for those who don't like Natural Environment's
9. Low Poly Grass for the performance boost
10.Weather Inside (Seasons) for weather sounds when inside buildings
11.Gorier Blood
12.Real Lava
13.Illumination Within Revived
14.Clocks Of Cyrodiil
15.Improved Signs
16.Improved Doors and Flora

"Game Fixes"
1. DarNified UI in OMOD form
2. Color Map Mod 1.1
3. Dude Where's My Horse
4. Harvest Flora
5. Harvest Containers
6. Book Jackets + Book Placement (Exclusive to POOP, first time these two mods have ever been OMODed and scripted together that I've seen for easy installation)
7. Durable Equipment/Harder Repairs
8. Denock Arrows
9. Cliff's Better Letters
10. Francesco's Leveled CreaturesItems
11. Francesco's Optional New ItemsCreatures
12. Quest Award Leveler
13. Kobu's Character Advancement System
14. SM Plugin Refurbish (fixes how DLC quests start, rather than bombard you with them in the first dungeon)

Items & People:
1. Kafei's Better Amulets
2. Kafei's Better Rings
3. Better Looking Tools
4. Fine Weapons
5. Rusty Items
6. Imperial Armor Replace
7. VA's Better Gold
8. Visually Enchated Weapons
9. TNR Tamriel's NPC's Revamped, All Races Final
10. Slof's Horses
11.Mike's Clothes Replacer

The Always Controversial Optional Folder:

Unique Landscapes:
1. Ancient Redwoods
2. Ancient Yews
3. Chorrol Hinterland
4. Colovian Highlands
5. Lush Woodlands
6. Rolling Hills
7. The Heath

(Yes, there are more Unique Landscapes out there; POOP feels that they alter the game too much and/or upset the balance of it to the point of breaking it.)

Game Fixes, Or Not (proceed at your own risk):
1. Realistic Ragdolls & Force
2. Action Ragdolls
3. Real Lights
4. Reneer's Guard Overhaul 1.79
5. DeadlyReflex

Side Quests:
1. Kvatch Rebuilt
2. Glenvar Castle
3. The Lost Spires

Finishing Touches:
1. Streamline 3.0
2. Wrye Bash
3. TES4LODGen (this incredible tool snoops your .ini directory and data folder and collects all mods and makes sure they appear as View When Distant too.

Comes with full instructions on how to install everything and make every OMOD here play well together.

Every mod is either in OMOD format (for easy installation and removal) or another single-click push-button format.

This is our initial POOP, but I can attest that everything works, as I did the install three times in a row successfully before calling this a release candidate.

It was at about 50 percent when I left for work. Should be done by the time I get home! :thumb: Picked up Knights Of The Nine so the only thing I'm missing and really don't think I"ll buy again is Isle.

If my seeding disappeared for a half hour, it was because I went offline to allow all my bandwidth to get the torrent totally transferred to my laptop as well on my media sharing network here at the house.

Now there should be two computers seeding the torrent instead of just one, and both should show up.

Coolness. My download is cooking along just past the halfway mark. Guess I'll get started reinstalling the game while I wait.

Did you ever try my interface xml file to see if it worked?

Yep, and it worked...sort of. You must have a bigger monitor or a widescreen monitor, because it put the stealth indicator off to the side of the target reticule.

I do have a widescreen monitor and I was thinking those settings might be screwy for others as a result of that or different resolutions.

Did you fix it and stick with it or go back to the normal interface?

I went back to normal for the time being, because all the OMOD scripting for POOP had basically broken my will to trial/error scripting something else....but I will go back and fix it because other than the off-center stealth "eye", I loved the minimal interface itself.

is there a torrent link for this? If so, I'll check to make sure that I got all of trig's POOP and will then start seeding it as well tonight.

Trig, I hope you have the day off today to help three forums full of POOPers wipe away any problems.

By the way, what's the eat/sleep/drink mod you mentioned over at GT? That sounds like something I'd want to try.

I'm also curious about the Tamriel Immersion Experience for thief characters by the guy who did the TNR NPC faces.

Just finished reading this entire thread and now I am pumped to play Oblivion again. I finished the game (i.e., master of all the guilds, completing the main quest, KoN and SI expansion) a year ago and haven't loaded it since. I am excited to try again.

Any idea how my machine will hold up with all these mods:
single AMD 3500 CPU
single 6800GT
2GB RAM

I was hoping to delay a PC upgrade until closer to when Fallout 3 is released.

The sleep/eat/drink mod I'm using is this one:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11944 It works, and is fairly easy to run and forget about.

Sacagawea's Kid:

You'll probably want to run QTP3 Redimized with almost full reduction, and the LOD texture maps try 1024 for both. The 6800 has 512 mb of ram, right? That definitely helps.

My 6800GT has 256 RAM. I had two of them running SLI, but one went bad. I have been trying to see how long I can hold out before buying the 8800GT. Do you know how much of a difference the 8800GT would make given my existing CPU and RAM?

With a 256 card, you'll need to be really careful with the LOD stuff in POOP. You may need to keep the vanilla LOD textures (or search for some 512 LOD textures) but since patch 1.2, the vanilla LOD isn't bad at all. You can still get some LOD help from the LOD Noise filter.

You can also set your draw distances in the game options a little lower. As a last resort, you can switch textures from Large to Medium in the game's video options.

8800 GT's are nice cards, but your CPU is still the bottleneck. I'd see if there was a cheaper 7xxxx series unless you're looking to do the Big Upgrade to dualcore fairly soon.

EDIT: actually, if you have a PCIE x16 slot available, an 8800 GT isnt a bad investment, and you'll definitely see a huge upgrade...plus you'll already have the killer video card if you decide to do further upgrading when Fallout 3 gets close to release.

75% done here. Download speed jumps from between 20k to 600+k. 2 seeders, 38 peers. Looks like we'll probably have this fully seeded by a few Hatters sometime this evening.

Denock Arrows (included in POOP) and Bow Sway (not included in POOP).

I'm looking forward to trying a non-archer character now that POOP has dropped. That character is really fast (including the +20 point Sign of the Steed speed bonus) so I can pretty much run backwards away from any high level monster I encounter and just fill it with arrows and eventually kill it. That feels a bit spammy to me so I'm gonna go for a melee or mage on this next go 'round.

Its been running since last night. When I left for work this morning I was at 40% with decent download speeds. I will be seeding for awhile since I won't have time to play the game for a couple of weeks.

Plus it looks like your poop is going to cost me $150. Newegg has this one on sale. Anyone heard of PALiT? The specifications look pretty good.

I just got my second computer seeding the torrent at 150kps up/average, so hopefully as more folks get close to the end the time necessary will fall faster than the estimate.

Bittorrent is, in essence, the same program you used to patch World of Warcraft.

From a techie standpoint, it's an extremely cool technology. Here's the non-techie summary.

You want to distribute a big file to a lot of people. If you host the file yourself, the bandwith needed to send out many copies of the file is prohibitively expensive. So what do you do?

Well, the guy who designed bittorrent realized that all the people who just downloaded the big file from you had the big file already. And all the people who have partially downloaded the big file have part of it already. And most people don't really use their uploading bandwith all that much. So why not have person D download the file from person A and B. And he can grab part of the file from person C as well. As the number of people downloading the file increases, the amount of bandwith available for the next person can theoretically increase instead of decrease. All you need to do is tell person D who has what parts of the file and they can grab it appropriately.

This being the internet and people being people, it's mostly used to distribute copywritten material, porn, MMORPG patches and linux distributions.

I swear bittorrent knows when I'm looking at it. I see it go from 6 mins. remaining to 16 mins., 36 mins., 1:06, 1:46...

Currently at 99.1%! I'm plugging my nose, because I'm about to dive into POOP!

99.5% here and 3 seeders have popped up. Any minute now a whole flood of new seeders should be unleashed.

I'm curious to see trig's instructions. They must have taken forever to write.

This is like asking for ice cream when you've been given cake for free, but I would love to have a chance to read the instructions before I download the whole honking thing. My previous attempts at installing Oblivion mods have made me more than a little gun-shy, and having a chance to review the instructions would help assuage (or confirm) my fears.

23 seeders now so we have plenty of folks with the whole kit and caboodle. Downloads should be really speeding up.
