Congratulations, Ken! So, now does he get to man the Popehat Signal in times of trial and sorrow?

Aww, wow – sniffle warning! Time flies WAAAY too fast!

BTW, are you aware that your son's full name is visible, as well as a general location? Just thought you should know.

Keep up the great work, and keep these photos handy in case you find yourself being less successful in your battle with depression – I know mine have been critical in helping me deal with my own.

Wow – congratulations! As an adopted child, I have enjoyed reading your posts on adoption generally and international adoption particularly and it's been fun to watch and hear about your kids growing up from a distance. I am sure that they are fine young people, and I know they have had fine parents.

Congrats! I have a ways to go before that happens. My youngest just "graduated" preschool today, and my oldest finished 4th grade.

Even as a parent observing my children growing up, somehow I am surprised when other people's children grow up at the same rate.

This is eighth grade graduation, right? Congratulations to him!

And you fortunately have a few more years before you have to deal with drunken rooftop accordion concerts ;)

@I Was Anonymous- Time to sell the house and move off the grid, then! No more mooching! Or at least it's time to turn the tables.

Congrats, Ken and congrats to the rugrat, who's a bit old I guess to be called that, but I did anyway! When he rules the world I only hope he makes my death quick and painless.

    When you coming home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then, Dad.
You know we'll have a good time then.

The real lesson of Cat's in the Cradle is to slow down and not run your life the way Harry Chapin ran (and ended) his.

  12. A point says

Ahh, but realize, that song was written by Harry's wife Sandy, but about her first husband (described in one other song as a "concrete castle king").

What?! How is that possible?! He's still the tiny charmer in your avatar, ain't he? Dang, man.

    Hi Ken,

Just wanted to let you know, I often post links to your articles to my facebook feed, and ever since you've switched to the new layout, direct links to the articles don't post with the article title. Instead, there's a generic popehat pic and slogan. The link still takes you to the article directly, but the overall post looks… relatively bland. I have no idea how to fix this (I manually keyword each link I post right now), especially since the rest of the new layout works fine and displays fine in Firefox and Chrome, but I just thought that you'd like to know, since we're in the age of Facebook=TheInternet. Might be as simple as including an otherwise hidden version of the title in the page source somewhere.

In any event, congratulations to you and yours, it's an excellent accomplishment by your son.
